Dogs at Work - Not So Barking Mad!

July 28, 2016

If you follow us on social media (facebook and instagram) then you may have noticed a friendly face popping up in a few posts lately.

Introducing Merly! The new fixture at our clinic.

Merly is a beautiful Kelpie-cross who is being looked after by housemates Kate (myself) & Cara-Lee as her owner spends a year in Japan teaching english - and because we're both at the clinic most hours each day, so is Merly now!

With a constant smile on her face, Merly is a bundle of energy who loves nothing more than going for long walks and swims at the beach, and then curling up and relaxing alongside you.

It wasn't lightly that we decided to have a dog in the clinic - while it was always a goal, we knew that we would need the perfect dog who would make everyone feel welcome, and be relaxed and happy just chilling.

It also isn't solely because we're all massive dog lovers - dogs and pets in general have been proven to provide many benefits in the workplace, and here are a few examples:

  1. They promote productivity and teamwork, by forcing employees to take breaks and refresh and recharge

  2. Simply petting a dog (or cat!) has shown a profound ability to reduce stress, and promote feelings of relaxation.

  3. Lastly, how could you not be happy seeing this face smiling at you as you walk in?

So if you're in the clinic and you are greeted with a tale wag from Merly, you are more than welcome to go up and say hello. However if dogs aren't up your ally, that's totally fine too - she's safely behind reception, and is happy to chill out if no one wants to pet her.

Book in to see Merly...ahem, I mean a physio!...today - book in online here, or give us a call on (08) 9448 2994!
