Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) is a leisure activity that has been gaining in popularity recently, in Perth and all over the world.
So, WHAT is SUPing?
Stand up paddleboards look like surfboards, but are commonly wider, longer and more bouyant. This allows you to stand up and maintain balance while paddling around. You can paddleboard leisurely on a flat river, lake or a calm ocean, or ramp it up and actually catch some waves.
WHY Should I SUP?
SUPing may look easy, but it certainly isn't passive exercise! Just standing on the board and keeping your balance engages your core, so you'll be working those summer abs. Add to that the constant paddling, falling off and getting back on, and you're in for a full body workout.

Where Can I SUP?
If you're new to SUPing we recommend either going with someone who has done it before, or investing in a quick lesson. If you've done it before, you can simply rent a board - there are a few rental places on the Perth river, or along the coast!
Once you've mastered regular SUPing, you can progress and either start catching waves (head to Trigg, Perth to see this in action daily!), or even have a go at doing SUP Yoga - yes, that is yoga on a SUP! It adds a whole other level to your workout, and it's fun to boot!
