Travel Fit

When you’re travelling, the last thing you are probably thinking about is getting your butt into the gym. You have worked hard for this holiday, and want to spend the time relaxing by the pool sipping cocktails or wandering around a beautiful new place.
One of the perks of holidays is that often they involve a lot more incidental exercise than you would normally get going to and from work in your daily life. You’re in a new place, and exploring the local sights often involves a lot of walking and wandering. If you’re somewhere with a few sights to see, this sightseeing might even get a sweat going (think hiking through the bush, or stand-up paddle boarding).
So in that sense, you’re already doing a fair bit of exercise!
However if you’re like me and love the rush that a daily exercise session can give, you can add in a quick hotel room workout.
Try the following circuit. You don’t even need any equipment except your phone or a clock to time yourself.
Go through all the exercises, then repeat it 3-5 times (with a 30-60 rest between repeats). Each round will only take about 5 minutes, so the workout can be as quick as 15 minutes!
1 minute star jumps
30 seconds high knees
30 seconds butt kicks (tapping heels to butt)
20 push ups (on toes or knees)
20 jumping squats
20 triceps dips (use the bed to dip off!)
10 burpees
20 sits ups
Bam! Now get back to lying on the beach!
